PopGraph's mission is to help you discover new and useful information about popular
culture all data across Internet.
The seeds of PopGraph began some time back in February 2007 on a train journey from
New York
to Providence,
Rhode Island.
Originally conceived as an educational tool to chart how educational concepts, theories
and people are inter-related the idea soon evolved into a more mainstream (and arguably
more "fun") endeavour to track the popularity metrics of topics that you deal with
and see every day on the Internet. PopGraph will continue to evolve and to attempt
to keep up with the ever growing and changing wealth of information the web.
PopGraph acheives it's stated mission by compiling data from a variety of online
resources and using statistical algorithms to produce the final PopScore
that you see for every topic on the site. There are almost 8 million topics and
this number grows daily as new data is produced in the form of new movies, songs,
famous people, websites, scientific discoveries and much more. In short: if it is
out there we will try to determine exactly how popular it really is.
Our unique PopScores show the popularity rating of a topic at a glance, and also
from the perspective of other major online sites like
Google, Facebook,
MySpace and Twitter. Our
scoring system is so unique that it merits its own explanation
page.
We encourage users to use PopGraph in whatever way they deem useful, whether just
for casual fun, keyword analysis, product analysis, etc.
PopGraph is funded by advertising throughout the site, but in no way does the advertising
ever effect the scores you see, and never will it.
Customized and advanced statistical data in the form of a premium server subscription
is available on request.
